M&E contractor payroll in Singapore
Payroll for mechanical and electrical contractors, run every month: shift and call-out allowances, technician overtime, work permit crews and labour cost by project.
Or call 6970 5539, Monday to Friday.
What we handle for M&E firms
- Shift, standby, night and call-out allowances applied from your rosters
- Overtime checked against the 72-hour monthly limit
- CPF for engineers and office staff, levy tracking for work permit crews
- Labour cost by project and by maintenance contract
Why M&E payroll is harder than it looks
M&E firms mix project work with term maintenance contracts, and office engineers with site technicians and work permit crews. Each group is paid differently, and the payroll has to get all of them right in one run.
-
Allowances with their own rules
Shift allowance per shift, standby allowance per night, call-out pay per job, meal and transport allowances for out-of-hours work. When these live in a supervisor’s notebook, some get missed and others get paid twice. We set up each allowance once, with its rate and rule, and apply it from your rosters and job sheets.
-
Overtime on basic pay, not on allowances
Technicians covered by Part IV of the Employment Act are paid overtime at 1.5 times their hourly basic rate. Allowances are paid on top but stay out of that rate. Mixing the two either overpays or underpays every month. Check one technician with our overtime pay calculator.
-
Who is covered by the overtime rules
Coverage depends on basic salary and whether the work is mainly manual. A wireman and a project engineer on similar pay can fall under different rules. We record each employee’s category and apply the right one, and review it when a technician moves into a supervisory role.
-
Call-outs that break the 72-hour limit
Breakdown call-outs come on top of planned overtime. In a busy month, a technician on standby can pass 72 hours of overtime without anyone noticing. We total overtime per person and flag anyone over or near the limit before you approve.
-
Cost by project and by maintenance contract
Project managers want labour cost per job; the finance team wants it per term contract. We report pay, overtime, allowances and employer costs against whichever code your time records use.
-
Work permit crews alongside local staff
Installation crews are often work permit holders, with declared salaries, levy and no CPF. Office engineers are on CPF by age and citizenship. Our work permit payroll checks run alongside your local payroll in the same approval.

Questions employers ask us
Something else on your mind? Call 6970 5539 and ask.
Can you pay different shift and call-out allowances to different teams?
Yes. Each allowance is set up with its own rate and rule, such as per shift, per call-out or per night, and applied from your rosters and job sheets every month.
Do allowances count when working out overtime pay?
No. Overtime is based on basic salary only. Allowances are paid on top but are left out of the hourly basic rate. Try the overtime pay calculator to see how it works.
Are our technicians covered by the overtime rules?
It depends on their basic salary and whether their work is mainly manual. Workmen earning up to S$4,500 a month are covered by the Part IV overtime rules; non-workmen are covered up to S$2,600. See MOM on the salary limit for overtime.
Can you report labour cost by maintenance contract as well as by project?
Yes. If your time records show the project or contract for each job, we report pay, overtime, allowances and employer costs against it.
We have office engineers on CPF and site workers on work permits. Can that be one payroll?
Yes. Citizens and PRs get CPF by age and citizenship, pass holders have no CPF, and everyone is paid in the same run with one approval.
